I have a P4 2.4Ghz Processor. I seems to heat up to about 65 degrees while playing games like Halo or Swat. Other wise it stays at about 36 degrees. Once i removed the graphite sheet provoided in the CPU box and applied thermal paste. I was able to bring the idle temp down to 28 degrees but a chip on the motherboard overheated and failed. I got the motherboard replaced and since the graphite sheet was used again for the heatsink the idle temp became 38 degrees. I installed a fan for cooling the case and a miniature fan to cool ICH4 IC with the passive heatsink. I am thinking of applying heat sink compound and adding a high speed fan right on top of the CPU cooling fan, would it help? |
